Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to Bristol Academy of Drama (Herewith called BAD) classes given to students, applied for and consented to by the parent/guardian/student (referred to hereinafter as "student"). Changes to these terms and conditions require the written consent of BAD.

Written confirmation from BAD confirming that a student has been allocated a place establishes a contract and acceptance of that place is on the understanding that the parent/guardian/student agrees to these terms and conditions.

*Direct Transfer to BAD bank account
*Cash is not accepted for security reasons. -
Class times, fees and methods of payment will be provided via e-mail prior to commencement of attendance.

Prompt payments are essential to the effective running of our classes. Payment for termly fees to be made by the end of the half term of the preceding term and certainly by the due date on the invoice.

Failure to pay, or contact BAD about payment, by the due date may mean the place will automatically be offered to a student on the waiting list.

BAD reserves the right to ask the student to not attend until term fee is received and brought up to date.

No refund would be possible for classes missed. Late fees may incur a £10.00 admin fee which will be applied to the next terms bill.

If an account falls into significant arrears on more than two occasions during any one calendar year BAD reserves the right to terminate membership with immediate effect.

Where a student is attending a class for the first time the contract can be terminated prior to the start of the class as per the conditions below:
*Cancellations received 8-14 days before the start of the class are subject to cancellation fee of 25 per cent of the class fees.
*Cancellations received 1-7 days before the start of the class are subject to a cancellation fee of 50 per cent of the class fees.
*No refunds will be made if notification is made 24 hours prior to the class or after the class has commenced unless BAD is able to fill the place.
*BAD will always look to refund as much as possible as soon as a space is filled but a 10% administration fee will apply. -
If the student fails to attend a session/s, the missed day’s fees are not refundable.

Classes take place once a week during term time and students are expected to be present each week unless they have an acceptable reason for being absent. Any absenteeism is required to be notified prior to the student being absent from the class. The term dates for the following term will be available on the BAD website by the half term of the previous term at the latest.

Notification of termination - termination must be received with half a term’s notice (usually 4 term weeks). This should be provided in writing via email and not verbally during class.

When a performance is planned, students are expected to attend technical and dress rehearsals in order to appropriately prepare for performance. Dates of these rehearsals are advised at least 6 months prior to the event and failure to attend could result in a student being unable to be part of the performance.

Performance charge
Main Show in Theatre - an additional charge, per child, to cover costume and theatre hire costs is made prior to each main production. No sibling discount is available for this charge. Charges will be based on numbers in the class and will include 2 free tickets per child to see the production/or a copy of the filmed performance. Payment should be made on receipt of invoice. Students will be unable to perform in production if charge is not paid by the due date.
Showcase in Class - there will be a small charge to cover additional costs but this will depend on the complexity and numbers in a showcase. -
Trial/Taster Sessions: Any trial/taster session is subject to availability and must be paid in advance. Attendance does not guarantee of a place at Bristol Academy of Drama.

If a student signs up for a paid taster session/s, all terms and conditions, as stated in this document, will apply e.g. if you pay for a trial but fail to turn up or are unable to attend, then no refund can be made.

Those participating in BAD classes are required to obey the rules and conditions of Bristol Academy of Drama as outlined in the behaviour policy, a copy of which is available on the BAD website.

BAD reserves the right to exclude students from lessons at its discretion.

BAD reserves the right to make changes to the timetable

BAD reserves the right to make changes to the teaching staff.

Fees are reviewed annually in September. BAD reserves the right to alter fees as and when necessary. Parents/students will be informed, at least term in advance, of any fee increases.

Students participate at their own risk and are obliged to inform BAD and its staff of any existing injuries or medical conditions.

Students are obliged to take care of their own belongings. BAD can accept no liability for lost or damaged belongings.

Students should dress according to the requirements of the class they are attending as outlined in the joining instructions.

The liability of BAD and that of its staff is restricted to class time only and then only to gross negligence.

Should it be necessary to cancel classes on account of extreme weather conditions (snow, ice, flood, gale force winds etc.), epidemic/pandemic or national crisis, or any circumstances over which BAD have no control, fees cannot be returned or compensation made.

All parents/ guardians/students must complete a registration form, including emergency contact details and any health/ medical conditions that staff should be made aware of, prior to the student participating in BAD classes.

All parents/guardians/student must keep BAD up to date with any changes to personal details, especially contact details and medical conditions.

(Children only) Parent/Guardian must advise the drama facilitator, in good time, if some else will be collecting a student.

(Children only) Parent/Guardian must advise BAD, in advance of any class, if a student has permission to walk home alone.

(Children only) Parents/guardians consent to the staff of BAD to take first aid or emergency measures as judged necessary for the care and protection of students while under the supervision of BAD staff.

BAD has the right to refuse entry to any student who is displaying signs of infectious diseases e.g. chickenpox, viruses

Parents/guardians/students agree to arrive for class in good time in order to avoid disturbing classes and (child only) to be collected promptly at the end of classes.
